As economic globalization progresses, bilateral investment treaties (BITs), multilateral investment treaties are of significant importance as they provide for the protection of investors’ investments. If a host country violates an investment treaty, the investor may file an arbitration against the host country based on the investor-state dispute settlement (ISDS) clause in the investment treaty.
